A paper The EigenTrust Algorithm for Reputation Management in P2P Networks - Kamvar, Schlosser and Garcia-Molina introduces a way to defeat malicious peers in P2P networks. DHT is used to make the rate computation fully distributed such that no one can fake rate report (a vector) to others. Worth reading.
