Windows Insecure by Design

WashingtonPost has a story of Windows security stating that "windows is insecure by design...". However, it does not provide enough technical details of this point. Windows security has been greatly imporoved since Win2000, but still has many problems. Most importantly, Windows has the largest market share. That is why virus creators always target it.

So long no see my weblog since have moved to east coast.

USENIX!

It has been a long way for me to figure out the USENIX conference offers more interesting publications/projects/ideas for Computer Science researchers. Unlike papers from most academic conferences, USENIX papers focus on real systems and practical stuff, rather than play math and equations, which in most cases makes you give up at some point.

This year's USENIX annual conference also has some very interesting papers, which fell into my research area of systems and networking.

Worst Sci-Fi Movie Poll

Just came cross the poll on slashdot about the worst Sci-Fi movie. Yeah, "Battlefield Earth" gest most of it. No wonder I had to pop up the VCD of this movie after 20 minutes watching on my PC. On imdb, it ranks #19 of bottom 100.

Also, IMHO, "star trek" movies are boring. I used to watch one on a plane and gave up after half an hour or something. Stupid movie.

Good ones? Judie Foster's "Contact", Dennis Quaid's "Frequency", and "Matrix" are among my favorites.
